Since car parks are used intensively daily, we made it a priority to design and manufacture a range of reliable and heavy-duty parking equipment. This means that you are guaranteed high grade products by our quality management team not only for our best sellers (access gates, control box protectors, poles, and bollards), but for all our access control and parking equipment.
Signage has been a part of Procity’s lines since the beginning, and we are happy to provide our customers with different road marking products, like line marking machines and line markers to designate parking spaces.
Height restrictors for Car Parks
Unauthorized access by caravans, oversized vans, or heavy goods vehicles is a common problem for private car parks and retail parks. Height restrictors (Height Limitation Barriers) are the most effective physical solution.
- Fixed vs Opening: Fixed barriers offer permanent restriction. "Opening" versions allow you to swing the barrier open to let service vehicles (like bin lorries) enter when needed.
- Visibility: Equipped with retro-reflective strips to ensure drivers gauge the height correctly, preventing accidental roof strikes.
Manual barriers & parking protection
For low-volume access control (like staff car parks or forest tracks), manual lifting barriers are a cost-effective alternative to automated systems. They are counterbalanced for easy operation. Inside the car park, protect your infrastructure (lamp posts, charging points) with steel hoop guards to prevent accidental reversing damage.
FAQ
What is the standard clearance height for a car park restrictor ?
The standard height to allow cars but stop vans is typically around 1.9m to 2.1m. However, our restrictors are often height-adjustable during installation, allowing you to set the precise clearance needed for your site.
Can I lock the height restrictor ?
Yes. The opening models come with a locking mechanism (usually a padlock facility or triangular key) that secures the barrier in the closed position (across the road) or the open position (parallel to the road) to prevent unauthorized manipulation.
What happens if a vehicle hits the restrictor ?
Our restrictors are made of heavy-duty steel to withstand impact. We also offer a "nudge bar" (a hanging bar suspended by chains) which hits the vehicle roof before the main steel beam, giving the driver an audible warning to stop.
Do manual barriers require maintenance ?
Very little. The counterweights are internal or enclosed. We recommend greasing the hinges and locking pin mechanism annually to ensure smooth operation, and checking the reflective strips remain clean and visible.
